Expanding a Historic Aviation Education Facility in Pensacola
Empire Builders Group was selected for the General “Chappie” James Flight Academy Classroom Additions project for the City of Pensacola.
Located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Pensacola, this project supports the continued growth of the General Daniel “Chappie” James Flight Academy and the surrounding museum support spaces. The work includes site improvements, utility and mechanical services, and vertical construction of a new 1,835-square-foot addition designed to help expand the existing Flight Academy.
The project supports a facility dedicated to aviation education, hands-on learning, leadership development, mentorship, and STEM career pathways for young people across the Gulf Coast.

The General Daniel “Chappie” James Flight Academy serves an important role in Pensacola by connecting students with aviation education, simulator-based training, leadership development, and mentorship opportunities. Named in honor of General Daniel “Chappie” James Jr., the facility helps carry forward a legacy of service, excellence, and opportunity.
Empire Builders Group’s work on the classroom additions project includes building and site improvements that help expand the facility’s ability to serve students, staff, volunteers, and visitors. The scope includes a new classroom addition, modifications to the existing dry retention stormwater pond, sidewalk improvements, lighting, landscaping, and associated utility and mechanical services.
Because the existing facility remained operational during construction, the project required careful coordination around access, safety, scheduling, and ongoing use of the site.
